Door to Hell Turkmenistan

Yes, I agree this looks pretty crazy. Well let me present you to the Darvaza Crater best known as the Door to Hell in Turkmenistan. It has not always looked like this. About 5 decades ago this fiery crater bursted in Northern Turkmenistan. Why? Its not certain but most people believe it was the result of a mishap while drilling. This crater is 225 feet wide and 99 feet deep. But there are not much scientists have really identified about this crater and most information is very sketchy.

In November of 2013 George Kouronuis went on National Geographic to go on an unforgettable journey. He was set off to go into the burning crater and explore it. Crazy Right! Don’t worry this journey went through a lot of preparation. He was made a custom suit to keep him safe so he obviously would not be in danger of getting burnt. So, how did he even get down into the crater? Well, his team set up a rope rigging system. Overall nothing bad happened. His journey was successful.
